A One to One Live Performative Encounter (25 mins)

‘Imagine a Museum’ (or: The Remembering Body) Exhibition

Tel Aviv Museum of Modern Art, 2023

Upon entering the gallery, the visitor receives a blindfold. From that moment she surrenders to the hands and voice of an anonymous figure who leads her into the inner body of the museum, along its arteries, into its bowels. Corridors and stairs lead deep inside, doors open and close, smells and sounds flood the way. Since the act of observation is blocked, other senses are mobilized: touch, smell, and hearing. In the meantime, during a tour of less than half an hour, a relationship based on trust and intimacy is forged between the one who leads and the one who is being led, and also on agreeing to participate in the role play that the "anonymity" dictates. The visitor does not see her but is aware of her voice, the smell of perfume wafting from her, and the sound of her heels clicking. Under her guidance, she goes to places she has never been before during her visits to the museum and experiences the museum - and herself - in a different way.
